As the fire department’s joker, Kyle (Sumo) Matsumoto, loves nothing better than ribbing the guys at the station. However, he’s all business when he’s on a call, and when he tries to snag the attention of a cute little baker. Then life takes a more serious turn when he’s plunged headfirst into fatherhood—of a teenage boy—giving his teammates the last laugh. For almost a year, Annie Flowers has been tucked away in plain sight. It’s amazing what a pair of colored contacts and a different haircut can accomplish. She likes her new, simple life in Durango with her only concern getting up on time for her morning shift at the bakery. Yet she’s not as invisible as she thinks. Not to the creep who chased her into hiding, and definitely not to the charming EMT with a penchant for sweets . Annie trusts only one person, her friend, Erin Gardner, but she’s in Texas, so when she discovers someone has been leaving her unwanted gifts, she has no choice but to put her faith in Sumo.

Sumo/Kyle & Annie
I love this world. An amazing team of Firefighters/EMTs, police, FBI, friends, and lovers.
Sumo has teased his fellow teammates at the firehouse for falling fast and hard recently for their lovers and spouses. He never thought it could happen to him--never say never. Not only is he enamored with the yummy baked goods but the baker at the local grocery store. Just as he is making an effort to get her to go out with him, another huge change enters his life.
Annie has been hiding in the small town. She doesn't make friends or put herself out to the community, although, she's been attracted to Sumo as well. Maybe it was time to live a little.
The two are a great couple that the reader will cheer on for a future together. Seeing other characters from past stories just adds to the enjoyment of the story. Add some loveable mutts, a smart, needy teen, a cantankerous old guy, and a snarky older woman and you have a feel-good story with some heat. Spice it up with danger you've got a real winner.
