“You loved me at my ugliest and still chose to see the good in me.”
My word this author is an incredible story-teller. This story details the lives of
Alexa and Joseph after they leave Columbia. They have always had a rocky
relationship, and in this book, we get to see how it all started. Joseph has had a
hard life, as I’m sure you can imagine from reading the first two books, but I’m
not sure I imagined it to be this hard. Alexa is a warm and caring person and that
shows through more in this book. I love that Ms. Harper also shows us what is
going on in the lives of the other characters the readers have grown to love, Lily,
Jake, Dom, Emily and Kayne. This book is not without its share of gore though, so
be forewarned. This book also has those sexy scenes we’ve come to expect from
Ms. Harper. After finishing this book, I feel compelled to jump head first into
Portland Street Kings, another series by Evie Harper. I’m hoping that some hinted
at story lines from this book will continue in that series or there will be another
branch off. I give this book 4 stars with 3 hands down the pants.
