The Smoking Gun: A Kelly Family Novel

Kelly Family Series #6

Author Lashell Collins

Genre: Romantic Suspense

New Release – September 20, 2015

Synopsis

The Kelly Family is back, and this time they must save one of their own!

Despite all the sibling rivalry over the years, the Kelly boys are tight. Everyone knows that. Even though on the surface they couldn’t be more different. Sweet, sexy Ethan is the fun-loving, gentle soul, while his older brother, Storm, is the hot-as-sin, bad-boy, panty-melting Dom. And though they’re both sworn to uphold the law as members of the Eastwood Police Department, their private lives are as wickedly divergent as the two amazingly beautiful women who share their beds. But when Ethan gets himself into a world of trouble on the job, it’s up to Storm to get to the truth and clear his little brother’s good name.

The Smoking Gun features two of your favorite Kelly Family couples, Storm and Nina, and Ethan and Heather, all in one book

Excerpt

He hated this case. One look at that poor, battered and emotionally broken young woman and Storm Kelly knew that he hated this case with a passion. Never mind the fact that he had spent nearly two months spinning his wheels on this one, on top of his already heavy case load. That wasn’t it. Storm never minded hard work. What he did mind though was chasing shadows and ghosts, and for some reason, whoever was behind this particular crime spree seemed to have the amazing ability to elude all of his efforts to find them. But even that wasn’t the issue tonight.

No. The problem tonight was that this case had just taken a vile turn that Storm couldn’t stomach. He was all for dispensing a measure of pain along with the pleasure, but there was a huge difference between that and what these dirtbags had done to that girl. She couldn’t have been much older than twenty, maybe twenty-two. His blood boiled as he watched the paramedics finally getting her loaded onto the gurney. Rape made him sick. Women were such exquisite creatures – they were meant to be cherished and protected. Fucked beyond all senses, to be sure, but cherished and protected at all costs.

“Though she may take pain well, and may even have a tough attitude, inside she is much more delicate than you could ever imagine. So yes, fuck her hard, but make sure you love her tenderly.”

The voice of his former mentor echoed in his head as he thought about the differences between inflicting pain within the confines of discipline and safe consensual play, and inflicting pain for the sheer sake of brutality and cruelty. The contrasts were staggering, and those who refused to see that — those who condemned the lifestyle as domestic violence and demeaning toward women — they simply didn’t understand. But that was neither here nor there, and right now he had a case to concentrate on. He watched until the ambulance pulled away from the curb, lights and sirens blaring as they sped off toward the hospital. Then he turned his attention back to the scene inside the house. It looked eerily similar to all the others.

Donna's Review:

Smoking Gun is Lashell Collin’s newest installment in the Kelly family saga. Although this story has a lot to do with Ethan and a situation involving him, I love how this book is about all members of the Kelly family. As usual, there are plenty of daddy issues to be had, but in this book there is a glimpse of hope for healing. Storm, who is traditionally my favorite Kelly, has a strong presence in the story line. Nina and Storm bring hotness to the book, those kinky kids. Family dynamics, social issues, understanding and romance, yeah, it’s in here. I give this book 4.5 stars with 3 hands down the pants.

Author Bio & Links:

Lashell Collins is an Amazon Bestselling author of romantic suspense, paranormal romance and rockstar romance. She walks to the beat of her own drum, but that’s okay ’cause she’s got a pretty good sense of rhythm. Basically, she’s a geeky, quirky, laid-back, rocker-loving kinda girl who’s married to a retired cop, motorcycle-riding, bad-boy alpha all her own, and she likes to write about sexy police officers, werewolves and rockstars, or some inventive combination of the three!

When she’s not busy tapping away on her laptop and living vicariously through her characters, she can usually be found watching Grimm, rocking out to Slash ft. Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators, stuffing her face full of Chinese food, or riding on the back of her husband’s Harley-Davidson. Between her book characters and the ones she knows in real life, her plate stays pretty full. But she loves to hear from readers, so give her a shout sometime!
