4 STARS

I have enjoyed this author's books before and this sounded too good to pass up! It did not disappoint!

Edie is a breast cancer survivor, divorced, unsure of herself and enjoying a much needed vacation in Hawaii with her two grown children. Tommy Carrigan is there with Collision, the band he manages. When Ivy, the wife of the front man, befriends Edie, their vacations collide. The first part of the book for me was slow....probably because they were on vacation and there wasn't much going on. But once the vacation ends, things start rolling quite quickly. That's when I couldn't put it down!

I liked Tommy from the start, a smooth talker yes, but he really seemed to take a genuine interest in Edie.

"Actually, you look like a fine wine, aged to perfection, sweet on the palate and lingering on the tongue long after you've been swallowed."

As this story unfolds, there are some surprises you will not see coming and I really enjoyed it. There were some characters that I fell in love with like Ivy. And I liked that the two main characters are older and have survived situations in their past that were less than ideal. I would highly recommend this story!

When leaving the hospital, aftercare was always part of the experience. What you did after - the procedure, the treatment, the incision that cut deep. However, nothing could have prepared me for how I'd take care of myself after Tommy Carrigan. There was no list, no instruction manual online at patient dot come for matters of the heart. No checklist. Nope, the aftercare sheet was a blank page. How did you treat tingling lips, skin rough from scruff-burn, and an ache so fierce your heart felt like it might burst?

If you enjoyed The Sex Education of M.E., you’ll love After Care, another romance for the over-forty from L.B. Dunbar. Continue the adventure previously published in Love Notes, the newsletter of L.B. Dunbar.
