First of all, I loved this book. I have to say for me it got intense and I had to go back to reassure myself this was a romance genre book that it HAD to have a HEA. I didn't see how that could be possible.
As the blurb tells, Victoria and Jacob met in hell and took a chance to find heaven. Really, Jacob asked her to meet him a year after her rescue as part of a conversation to keep her conscious and alive with the serious injuries—and because he saw something he'd never seen before in her strength and personality. Their meeting was nothing less than astounding and they didn't play hard to get—just how to get away together. Since Jacob had some mandatory leave time coming he accepted her invitation to spend that time on her family ranch—little did she know the invitation would end up with the whole ops team coming along. Gotta love those guys.
The book does a great job of introducing the whole gang, their strengths, and position in the team. The reader has to want to hear all of their stories. I do.
When things are going well, the team gets called on the mission of mission, including the rescue of not one but two of Jacobs brothers who also work for Guardians. This one could take out all of the brothers and end Victoria and Jacob before they really get to live their love.

An adrenalin pumping, edge of your seat gripping read!
After reading Joseph, which is the second installment in the Kings of Guardian Series and a 5 star read for me, I was holding out for a great read…and I was not disappointed.
Jacob King got more than he bargained for when he and his team were sent to a rescue mission deep in the Afghan entering a warlord’s camp he was not expecting to find what he did.
Battered and left for dead Victoria Marshall is shocked and stunned when she is rescued by a black ops group led by Jacob, even out of her mind with pain she knows there is something about him that makes him special.
After they make a date to meet a year after on the anniversary of the rescue mission none of them is prepared for the journey they are about to embark on…
A well-executed, action packed story from start to finish. The plot flowed, characters had depth and personality. The banter and one liners were pretty funny. Overall a really enjoyable read. Would highly recommend. I can’t wait to continue with the series.
