I began the series with this book. It kept me up all night reading. I didn't always like Diesel. He has some redeeming features that almost made of for his #@#%@ ways. The man is honest. He doesn't always tell all, however, he gives it straight. When he tells Rory they will be bed buddies but nothing else he means it. He always means it. Just keeping his distance is not always possible. His son is all that matters he thinks. The boy's mother has tried too much.
Rory is his neighbor and has good reason to believe he is a jerk. She's had enough in her life. Now that she escaped and hopefully won't be found, she won't put up with the same tactics with any other man. But darn is he gorgeous.
Can they battle together to reach a middle where a relationship is possible? These two people who have no reason to trust, have so many people who have betrayed them, find each other? What about the little boy? Will Diesel's son be allowed to accept the sweetness shown by Rory?
I found myself on the same yo-yo as Rory. Hating and loving the man. Through the entire book, we are led to believe there is another enemy to Rory. As we get to the cliffhanger the author guarantees we have to know the rest of the story. All the characters were compelling. I plan to read book one before book three comes out. This one will capture you and hold on. Be prepared.
