New Release ~ Strike by Toni Kenyon

Finding yourself has never been so much fun!

Paul's best friend.

He's the drummer in the band.

You know him; he's the guy hanging round at the back.

The sensible one.

The caring one.

Todd's the one everyone can rely on.

But he hits things.

Hard!

He's got an inked body that speaks of sinful things in the night.

And he's 24 years old.

Rose James-Spencer crashes into his life.

She's 34 years old and trying to find herself in New York.

With Todd she's found a hell of a lot more than she ever went looking for and she's not sure that she can handle him.

Another wonderful book by Toni Kenyon! I have read about the boys in this band before, starting with the story of Jules and Mags. This can be read as a stand-alone, but reading about the characters from her previous stories made me realize how I had missed them, especially that moody Jules MacAvoy, although he seems to have relaxed a bit since time has passed. And I think it just makes this book more rich.

This is the story of Todd (Murph), the drummer and Rose James-Spencer and a literal crashing into each other on the Brooklyn Bridge. They are in New York for several days of performances and she and her friend had recently moved there from New Zealand....to live a little. The two have an age difference, which she has a problem with...he doesn't care and is very persistent.

They spend a few days together in New York and then Rose makes a tough decision. She misses New Zealand and longs to go home.

I missed the golden sand of the east coast beaches and the calming expanse of green paddocks dotted with white sheep. I wanted to hear the quiet chirp of crickets and cicadas instead of the incessant screaming sirens and car horns of downtown New York.

I love that this author lives down under and I happily googled images of all the places in New Zealand she mentioned.

I fell in love with Todd immediately and I liked Rose but she doubted herself so much, sometimes it frustrated me.

Did age really matter? I had to ask myself. Todd had tried to assure me that it didn't. But it might not matter to Todd, but the rest of the world?

Another winner story from Ms. Kenyon! I would love to see more stories from these characters and I'm not sure what she has planned for this series, but anything coming from her, I will definitely read!

Brit rockers hit the US for the Get Rocked! In Vegas Festival

Sam MacAvoy’s a British rocker who has charted consistently at number one all over Europe since following in his brother, Julian’s footsteps. Now Sam’s been invited to Vegas to debut at the Get Rocked! In Vegas Festival and he’s brought his red hot band, Style Strike with him.

Ashley Jacobs can’t stand musicians, or over-the-top egotistical men. Somehow she finds herself in amongst dozens of them when she agrees—against her better judgment—to take a three day summer job at the Festival.

Paul Gray, Style Strike’s bass player and the star of his own social media channel, has women falling at his feet. What he can’t quite understand is why his charm isn’t working on the attractive and curvaceous, Ashley. She’s not interested in his social media stardom, nor does she care that he could have any woman he wants at the rock festival.

Or does she?

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas—unless it follows you home.

All Ashley Jacobs wants to do is forget about the Get Rocked! In Vegas Festival and get on with her life. Unfortunately, the one night she spent in the arms of British band, Style Strike’s bad boy bass player, Paul Gray makes that simple wish impossible. She’s brought home more than memories. What should have been a fun fling before she settled into her orderly life has gone awry. To her horror, Ashley’s entire life is turned upside down when she discovers that she’s pregnant. She’s literally about to be left holding the baby.

Paul Gray’s never forgotten that night in Vegas with the woman who wanted nothing to do with a rock star. Style Strike’s US tour has gone from strength to strength and his social media star is on the rise. Paul finds himself surrounded by everything he's worked so hard to achieve. His life is awash with women, fame and fortune—but all he can think about is the sensual woman who walked away from him that night in Vegas.

Knowing the tour's about to hit her hometown, Ashley makes the sensible decision to contact Paul. He needs to be told about the baby, doesn’t he?

I have to start this review by saying I love Toni Kenyon's books!!

This is the story of Paul Gray and his up and coming band Style Strike. A music festival in Vegas several months ago brought Paul and Ashley together for a whirlwind one night of romance. And normally what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, until weeks later, Ashley finds out that the one night stand with Paul has left her pregnant. While there was a spark between both Paul and Ashley in Vegas and they have thought about each other since their hook up, their lives are going in totally opposite directions. He's on the rise, spending the majority of a year on the road. She's in her dream job, until the pregnancy begins to derail that.

Should she tell Paul about the baby? Ashley decides to email him a very superficial hi, how are you email. When he responds, she finds out he will be in her home town for several nights during the tour.

"Hi, how are you?" The deep gravel sound of Paul's voice was unmistakable. The small swell of hope that I had been nurturing in my stomach become a full-blown tsunami of optimism.

I loved the fact that this book included appearances from Julian and Mags from The Private Love Rockstar Series ! Mags is so wise!

"If you can't cope with the man that's out there doing what he does to entertain, and the reaction of his fans to him, then you best go and find yourself a nice anonymous bloke who does a nine-to-five job and arrives home every night at the same time."

At times, even though I loved Paul, I was angry with him!

"I can't be a father," he whispered. "Look at my life. I'm on the road, with a band. You can't do this to me.

Can Paul and Ashley find a way to make this work? I cannot wait for the next book in this series!!

"But how do you know that it's going to work out?" I asked Mags. "Because he chose me," she said. "Because he comes home to me. Because I'm the stability in his life." She waved her hand out in front of the stage. "All of this. It can go in an instant. But he knows that I'll always be there for him and that's why it works."

Toni Kenyon lives in Auckland (New Zealand) with her husband (and their dog and cat) the goldfish is just squatting! She writes romance by day, sings in a band by night and in her spare (yeah, right) time she wrangles difficult heroes into line, so they can star in her next novel. Toni also loves the garden and has a special place in her heart for her fruit trees and her veggie patch. A keen amateur photographer, Toni posts “Mood of the Suburbs” shots across most of her social media profiles. She loves to hear from like-minded people, so pop on over and say 'Hi' any time.
