Blurb

Bodhi McKnight has always had everything handed to him on a silver platter: fame, success, money, girls. The raven-haired, blue-eyed hottie is the son of Hollywood A-listers, and when he’s asked to join the boy band Virtuous Paradox, his star shoots even higher. But so do expectations, leading Bodhi down a destructive path of addiction—until a drop-dead gorgeous guardian angel shows him her sizzling brand of tough love.

When Bodhi ends up in rehab, he doesn’t expect to meet someone as cool and down-to-earth as Kimberly Gordon. Although he’s enjoyed the company of beautiful, charming women before, none of them have tried to get to know the “real” Bodhi. But Kimberly isn’t fazed by his stardom. She’d rather go horseback riding, teach Bodhi to play guitar, or ask him about his feelings. Soon Bodhi realizes he’s fallen head over heels for her. He just hopes that he’s strong enough to protect what they have from all the pressures and temptations of the outside world.

Includes a special message from the editor, as well as an excerpt from another Loveswept title.

4 Stars

I really enjoy stories that involve musicians but this was the first book I read that featured a musician from a boy band. That being said I enjoyed the overall story.

At first, I felt like the characters fell a little short. I think anyone who has had experience with anyone with addiction issues will feel for this character, but the initial attraction between Bodhi and his professional contact Kimberly at his rehab center felt too rushed for me. However, after this story got going and Bodhi got out of rehab, that was when it really got going for me.

The real life issues that addicts face, especially with someone in Bodhi's professional situation, are real and heartbreaking. At one point, my heart just broke.

"Bodhi," I yell, shoving him to get his attention. When he looks at me, his blue eyes are dull and his pupils dilated. He's high. I cover my mouth to keep from crying out, but my reaction means nothing to him. Not a single thing.

There was a lot of this book that I could react to, having lost 3 people I have loved in my life to addiction. The author did her research. And I loved the dual POV's which let us into the main characters' heads.

And I did enjoy Kim...

"Dirty Thirty" is looming, and I'm in love with a musician who doesn't seem ready to settle down.

I would recommend this read just for the fact that it's the first book I've read of a musician from a Boy Band. Very different from the everyday Rock Star reads.

I would like to continue with this story and see what is coming next.

ARC given in exchange for my honest review.

"And it was lust at first sight for me too. I’m not gonna lie. Bodhi is walking, talking sex, and I let that get to me. I couldn’t resist him, even though I tried. I let my body dictate how I was going to react, my job be damned."

"I didn’t think I’d miss seeing Bodhi as much as I do. The feelings I have go beyond longing: my chest hurts, my mind is elsewhere and unfocused, my skin feels like a thousand needles are jabbing me at any given time, and I’m constantly hearing his voice even though I know he’s not here."
